New York City-based violinist Mia Rose Nardi-Huffman is recognized as a versatile and dynamic performer of music ranging from Beethoven to Black Sabbath. She has performed across North America and Europe, in venues that include Carnegie Hall, The SF JAZZ Center, Herbst Theatre, The Los Angeles Orpheum, and Shoreline Amphitheatre. She is the founder and first violinist of the ASTRAEUS Chamber Collective, a touring member of the psychedelic rock band Spirit Mother, and concertmaster of the Emo Orchestra, a nationally touring rock orchestra.

Mia additionally performs with the electro-acoustic project Sphinx of Black Quartz Judge My Vows and the chamber group Ensemble For These Times. Passionate about the creation of new music in the contemporary classical space, Mia has held composition residencies at Stanford University, the San Francisco Conservatory of Music and Cal State East Bay with the ASTRAEUS Collective, as well as at Diablo Valley College and UC Santa Cruz with members of Ninth Planet.

In the realm of crossover music, Mia has performed alongside large-scale musical acts including Evanescence, Escape the Fate, Lindsey Stirling, Brad Mehldau and Joshua Redman, Gamelan X, and more. Mia has also worked extensively as a studio musician, recording with artists such as Streetlight Manifesto, The Singer and The Songwriter, Marcus McCauley, and Portrait Maker.

Mia earned both her BM (2014) and her MM (2016) from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, where she was concertmaster of the Conservatory Orchestra and the recipient of the Sergei Barsukov Violin Scholarship.

When not performing or teaching, she is often found taking care of her many houseplants and spending time with her cat Stella Bean. She has written and published a book of poetry about the loss of her late husband to brain cancer, entitled ‘So I Don’t Forget: Poems of Grief and Rediscovery’, available on Amazon.
